Coming Home to Briant Point: Creating a Coastal Sanctuary

There’s something about a home that tells a story, isn't there? When I started designing the spaces at Briant Point, I knew I didn’t just want "coastal decor." I wanted that specific, timeless feeling—the kind you see in a Nancy Meyers movie. You know the one: cozy, sun-drenched, layered with textures and just effortlessly inviting.

I wanted the house to feel like a warm hug, full of soft blues, crisp whites, and just enough patina to feel loved. Here’s a peek into three of my favorite corners of the guest house.

The Coastal Bath: My Morning Escape

Walking into this bathroom truly feels like stepping into a serene, watercolor dream. We went with a soft hydrangea floral wallpaper that mimics that classic, nostalgic vibe I adore. It’s balanced by crisp beadboard wainscoting and the warmth of unlacquered brass hardware that will only get better with time.

The star of the show, though, is the botanical artwork—it’s the anchor that pulls the whole color palette together.

The Entryway: A Watery Welcome

I believe your entryway should be the most hospitable room in the house. This space is all about texture—the woven rattan, the herringbone brick floor and that welcoming lantern that glows just right in the evening. I added some of my own coastal prints here to give guests a little preview of the seaside view waiting just outside the back door. It’s functional, airy and says "you're home" the second you walk through the door.

The Laundry Room: Chores, Elevated

Can a laundry room be beautiful? I’m convinced it can! By using creamy white cabinetry, natural wood countertops, and keeping everything clean and organized, this room went from a place I avoid to a place I actually enjoy spending time in. The window view of the harbor makes folding clothes feel almost like a vacation. I tucked some of my favorite marine-life artwork on the walls to keep the nautical theme flowing right through to the back of the house.

Designing these rooms has been such a journey of finding what feels like me. I hope these corners of Briant Point's Guest House inspire you to add a little more texture, warmth and nostalgia to your own sanctuary.
